MDM policies control what the iPad can and can not do. For example, you may decide during tests that you don't want students to be able to use the screenshot function. You can turn this off, and then turn it back on afterwards. It's important to be careful when making changes here, as some functionality is limited for a reason.
- Installing Apps: This is turned off to keep students from downloading apps on their own from the App Store. It must stay off. When you add an app through the MDM, it will install even with this off. However, if you're seeing some iPads having issues with receiving apps, turn this on, and then "Reinstall Apps" on individual iPads.
- Removing Apps: Likewise, this is turned off to prevent students from accidentally removing apps. It's also a nice classroom management strategy so you can see what apps are on the device. If you decide an app is no longer appropriate for your students, turn this on, have students delete the app, and then turn it back off.
- iCloud: We turned off iCloud functionality because the constant back up of devices to iCloud was causing a huge bandwidth drain districtwide. We will not be turning this back on. There are other ways for students to save projects, such as Google Drive and/or Dropbox.
Some policies can not be altered. These have an orange lock next to them. If you think this needs to be unlocked, contact me.
